Financial institutions, professional organizations, government agencies and other entities periodically release reports on various sectors of the economy that can inform your business and strategic planning.  Many of these reports are produced monthly, some quarterly, and are available at no charge through the organization's website.

BEA Personal Income and Employment Data 
The Bureau of Economic Analysis, U.S. Department of Commerce, publishes data on personal income and employment. National- and state-level data are available on a quarterly basis while data at the MSA and county level are available on an annual basis.

 

BIFMA – U.S. Office Furniture Market

The Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturers Association posts historical data on the production and consumption value of all office furniture sold in the U.S. from all sources in the world including those in the U.S.

 

Building Permits
The U.S. Census Bureau publishes data on building permits at the national, state and metropolitan statistical area (MSA) levels on a monthly basis.  The permits data can be used to monitor the pace of production month-to-month or relative to historical trend levels of production.

 

Consumer Confidence SurveyÒ

The Consumer Confidence Survey® is based on a representative sample of 5,000 U.S. households. The monthly survey is conducted for The Conference Board by TNS. TNS is the world’s largest custom research company.  It is published on the last Tuesday of the month.

 

FHFA Housing Price Index

The HPI serves as a timely, accurate indicator of single-family house price trends at various geographic levels.  Because of the breadth of the sample, it provides more information than is available in other house price indexes.  The HPI is reported both monthly and quarterly.

 

ISM Report on BusinessÒ

The Institute for Supply Management produces a number of reports, most notably the monthly ISM Manufacturing Report on Business, published the first Monday of each month and considered by many economists to be the most reliable near-term economic barometer available.  The reports are available at no charge on the ISM website.

 

Standard & Poor’s / Case-Shiller Home Price Indices

The S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price Indices are the leading measures for the US residential housing market, tracking changes in the value of residential real estate both nationally as well as in 20 metropolitan regions. The indices are calculated monthly and published with a two month lag. New index levels are released at 9am Eastern Standard Time on the last Tuesday of every month.
